principal I feel it a privilege to introduce Smt. Velagapudi Durgamba Government Degree College for Women, located in Nidadavole, East Godavari District. Nidadavole is a Godavari catchment area and a great saivakshetram with much historical importance. This was once a water course popularly known as ‘Niravadhyapuram’ and was ruled by Chalukyas. It is said that Rani Rudrama Devi was the wife of Veerabhadra Chalukya, the then ruler of Nidadavole. It has a niche not only in the annals of Andhra History but also in ancient Telugu Literature.
